TITLE: Certified Nursing Assistant II
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma, Certificate of Completion from Accredited CNA II Program and Registered with NC Board of Nursing. See Application Requirements Below.
REPORTS TO: Health Services Director or Health Services Lead Nurse
JOB GOAL: To monitor status and provide and/or assist with medical procedures for a student that requires constant medical supervision and care during the school day as required by POC (Plan of Care).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor students’ medical status during the school day.
- Provides and/or assists with medical procedures as ordered by a physician during the school day.
- Provides and assists with students’ personal hygiene needs during the school day.
- Notifies Health Services Director or Health Services Lead Nurse of changes in student’s health status.
- Notifies Health Services Director or Health Services Lead Nurse when absences may occur to determine coverage for students.
- Documents actions in ezEdMed.
- Provides adjunct care by administering non-sterile dressing, and ice packs and applying appropriate restraints for wheelchair and stander.
- Communicates student health-related concerns immediately to the Health Services Director or Health Services Lead Nurse.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional development, and maintaining licensure.
- Serves as a team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer-driven, and valuing diversity.
- Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
- Possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess the visual acuity to work with data and figures, operate a computer, do extensive reading and prepare and present written and oral reports and statistical data.
- Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, talking, seeing, hearing and repetitive motion.
- Must possess the ability to work in all environments (hot, cold, inside, outside).
