TITLE:                                      Substitute Teacher                                                              

FLSA STATUS:                         Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:                  

High School graduate or equivalent. Must complete and upload the Effective Teacher Training or current licensed teacher certificate, copy of driver's license, SSN Card, transcripts (if applicable), completed Health Form, and Sub Orientation Course Documents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follows the lesson plan left by the teacher for whom he/she is substituting.

Plans appropriate educational activities for students when there are no plans available or when assigned because of an emergency.

Maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.

Applies all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment and facilities.

Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.

Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class and during lunch, class change and other break periods.

Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.

Ensures a sustainable relationship with parents, pupils, school personnel and members of the public by communicating in a confidential, polite and refined manner.

Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity.

Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders.

Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.

Special Requirements:

Must have completed the Cumberland County Schools orientation session. All documents listed under Qualifications must be uploaded into the Applicant Tracking Application to qualify.
