TITLE: Integrated Pest Management Technician (IPM Tech)

                                                                                   

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                   

High school graduate or equivalent; two years supervisory experience as a Custodian II or III; completion of management, administration or building trades program preferred.  Possession of valid North Carolina driver’s license and a clean driving record required.  Ability to lift and carry substantial loads is necessary.  Mechanical aptitude, good communication and organization skills required.  Must maintain a License/Certificate from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services.

REPORTS TO: Custodial Services Coordinator

                                               

JOB GOAL: To investigate pest sightings at all schools and facilities.  Investigates areas being treated for ways pests may be entering.  Treats areas.  

Educate school staff on the Integrated Pest Management program.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identifies all pests (such as ants, mice, cockroaches, fleas, lice, bees, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, bed bugs and spiders).

 

Responds to work orders request by the schools and facilities.

 

Performs application of treatment beginning with approved chemical(s) to include:  self-contained baits, gels, crack-and-crevice treatment and any pesticide products classified by the US Environmental Protection Agency as belonging to the U.S.E.P.A. Toxicity Class IV Relatively Nontoxic.

 

Performs inspection of all Cumberland County Schools throughout the school year and in writing of any pests or any other areas that may need repairs of any type.

 

Keeps records of all treatment procedures. 

 

Schedules treatments with exterminator.

 

Possesses knowledge of all safety hazards, rules, regulations and implements safety precautions.

 

Attends and successfully completes all training activities as required to improve ability and knowledge in performance of work duties.

 

Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity.

 

Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to perform medium/heavy lifting exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move an object.

 

Must be able to climb ladder and be capable of traveling through needed crawlspace area.

 

Must be able to read and write.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.

Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Must be able to obtain certification or licensure in pest management from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services within 90 days of employment.
