JOB GOAL: To promote maximum development of all students by prevention/alleviation of problems that interferes with the tasks of learning through knowledge of human behavior, social systems and social work skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessment of Student Needs
Uses assessment skills to determine needs of students.
Program Planning and Evaluation
Provides input for program planning and evaluation and contributes to the development of departmental and system-wide policies.
Direct Service
Employ appropriate social work methods in situations affecting the student’s educational progress.
Advocacy
Maintains an advocacy role to assure that the student’s educational, social, emotional, and material needs are met in accordance with established laws, rules, and regulations.
Consultation/Education
Provides consultation and in-service experiences for teachers and staff and engages in the mutual exchange of information with community agencies.
Coordination/Liaison
Serves as liaison between home-school-community and promotes effective resource utilization and positive relations with various publics.
Management
Organizes time, resources, and work load in order to meet the responsibilities and maintains accurate case records and documentation.
Professional Practice and Development
- Shows evidence of professional growth and development and adheres to a professional code of ethics.
- Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer-driven, and valuing diversity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders.
- Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
