TITLE: Electronic Equipment Technician Mechanic I     

 

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

High school graduate or equivalent.  Two years technical school or three years experience in computer/vehicle maintenance.  Working knowledge of electronic repairs and maintenance.  Knowledge of tools, equipment, and electrical wiring used in fleet management.  Knowledge of record keeping and reporting techniques.  Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form to mechanics, supervisors and school personnel.

REPORTS TO:  Shop Supervisor

                                   

JOB GOAL:  To ensure the safe transportation of children by equipping, maintaining and repairing technical equipment such as cameras and GPS units on the buses.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Installs and provides technical support for electronic equipment used in transportation. Test and inspect electronic equipment to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

 

Working knowledge of Synovia/CalAmp to include Time and Attendance, Here Comes the Bus, GPS Tracking, etc.

 

Identifies sources of a variety of information, prepares comprehensive reports, abstracts of factual data and documentation as it relates to the diagnostic and repairs of transportation electronic equipment.

 

Creates/maintains records for transportation electronic equipment using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, BSIP, etc.

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators and colleagues in written and oral form.

 

Ability to resolve problem situations in a fast paced environment while working independently under the guidance of the Shop Supervisor.

 

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

 

 

Keen sense of responsibility and professionalism.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must be able to perform medium lifting exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required. Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Must possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Must provide basic automotive tool kit.
